I have been eyeing this place forever but got to go there only last week, finally!
Double Roti, is situated on Cenotaph First Street, right opposite to the Malaysian consulate. There is no parking available, I prudently went by auto.
The place is really nice. Plenty of space to wait outside with comfortable seating and plants to lend relief from the heat. My company for lunch was late in coming and I waited outside for about a half hour without much trouble. Inside, the atmosphere is very relaxed with fun decor and a very casual ambience.
The food is great! We ordered Cheese Fries, Tiki Tiki Bun Bun, and the Double Trouble. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the portions are huge. The burger is by itself a massive thing and unless you are hungry, you won’t be able to finish it.
I had the Tiki Tiki Bun Bun, a burger with aloo tikki in it along with all the fixings of vegetables and sauces. The flavours were great and the aloo tikki was crispy and soft at the same time. I love bread of all kinds and can say that the bun itself was a thing of beauty – soft and fluffy yet held together the entire weight of the burger.
The cheese fries are a big portion as well and you will enjoy devouring it as well.
For dessert. I had a chocolate mousse. It was not the best, but come on, it is chocolate and its dessert – what’s to complain about!
Overall the place is cosy, the food is great, and the prices are a bit on the higher end of the spectrum.
Though the food and the decor work for Double Roti, the best part of my experience has been with the staff. They deserve a special mention. It was a Saturday and the place was full, yet every table got attention. The staff were friendly and never without a smile!
